This morning, Barangay Luz successfully conducted the GAD and Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) Planning and Budgeting Workshop for 2026, with the active participation of various sectoral groups. Participants included barangay officials, womenβs groups, youth representatives, parents, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), health workers, CNS, solo parents, fathers (Erpats), teachers, and other community stakeholders.
The workshop focused on BCPC policies, mandates, and program implementation, underscoring the importance of child protection, abuse prevention, and the promotion of childrenβs rights at the barangay level.
The session was facilitated by our resource speaker, Ms. Nicole Ivanka Princess Ebcas, RSW, from the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS), who shared valuable technical inputs on BCPC functions, case management, referral mechanisms, and the integration of child-focused programs into the GAD Plan and Annual Budget for 2026.
Ms. Ebcas also highlighted the importance of inclusive and participatory planning, ensuring that the voices of all sectors are heard in developing responsive and sustainable programs for children and families.
An open forum followed, providing a platform for sectoral representatives to raise concerns, share best practices, and propose priority activities for inclusion in the 2026 GAD and BCPC plans.
This activity aimed to strengthen stakeholder capacity in crafting gender-responsive and child-centered programs, enhance collaboration among sectors, and ensure adequate budget allocation to effectively support child protection initiatives in the community.
Together, we build a safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly Barangay Luz. ππΆπ§π¦
